I started my journey towards home Monday 30th of June from Hong Kong. It took 25 hours to get to Beijing. I spend one night there and then Wednesday 2nd of July very early in the morning the Train K3 departed Beijing. Same evening we arrived to the border between China and Mongolia. The procedures at the border were really strict and it took hours to get through all the custom formalities. During the second day we traveled across Mongolia and then again around midnight we were at the border between Mongolia and Russia. It took even longer to get through there. Mainly we just have to sit in the train and WAIT. And at least five different officers check our compartment.
In the morning of day three the rail went on the shores of Lake Baikal. It was just so beautiful. And after that there was just forest, field, villages and towns for next 6000 kilometers... So I had lot of time to think and read (whole Chronicles of Narnia) and eat (mainly noodles ans chocolate) and sleep (about 15 hours per day) and write my diary (100 pages...). Hong Kong felt like a dream and so did Finland too, so I really felt like being somewhere "in between". But between what? Two dreams? After first day I didn't even have anyone to talk to because I was alone in my compartment and everyone else in my car were either Mongolians or Russians or Chinese and no-one spoke English. In the beginning of the journey there was a Swedish couple at the same compartment with me and we had really good and long discussions about Asia, global warming, affairs between different countries, about Scandinavian food etc...
I arrived to Moscow Monday 7th July afternoon and then I spend lovely 8 hours at the train station waiting for the train to Finland. I was too tired and without any feeling to explore the city, so I just sit in cafe and ate some smashed potatoes. Finally I was in the train to Helsinki. We arrived to border between Russia and Finland early morning of Tuesday 8th of July . When I know that we are at the Finnish side, well I don't know why the sky look little bit more blue and the clouds little bit more white and the forest little bit more green and then I was crying for the last time during this trip. I get off the train in a town called Lahti after traveling over 10 000 kilometres since leaving Hong Kong. At that moment only thing I was thinking about was: shower... And I can tell that even after almost three days in Finland I don't feel anything. No happiness or sadness. I think I miss Hong Kong so much that my brains are blocking that information from my conscious mind. I have been talking with my friends and relatives about my experiences in Hong Kong and during the train trip, but I feel like robot when I am talking about Hong Kong.
This is the last post to this blog. Goodbye!
